Established In 1906
Over a century ago, the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen established a public school district designed to provide families with an exceptional education in the heart of historic Franklin.
A special act of the legislature in 1949 made us the first special school district in Tennessee, giving the FSD School Board added authority to ensure our schools are adequately funded and managed solely by the School Board on behalf of the residents of the city's Ninth Special District. For those reasons, we proudly carry the Franklin Special School District name, also known as the Franklin Special District.
A First In Tennessee
